Microsoft and 343 announce Halo 4 Infinity Multiplayer with tons of screenshots; Limited and Special edition bundles
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there are plenty of you reading this that would spend $100 on a game if it came with enough cool bonus content. It is towards these gamers that Microsoft and 343 Industries direct the announcement of the Halo 4 Limited Edition, which is now available for pre-order.
For those willing to part with $100, the Limited Edition will bestow gamers with a fancy box, early access to six multiplayer Specializations, a 90-minute extended version of the web-series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, Xbox LIVE-exclusive content, and plenty of other bonuses, including nine maps that will be split across three packs.
Specifics regarding the Specializations and maps were not mentioned and will be revealed at a later date, possibly at E3 2012 next month.
Also revealed were new details about Halo 4’s multiplayer, which will be linked to the massive starship UNSC Infinity. It is here where players will be able to customize their Spartan-IV from the way they look to the way they play. According to an official release, this will embed the multiplayer experience into the Halo fiction like never before.
In addition, the Limited Edition will come with competitive multiplayer modes called War Games, which will come with new modes that take place on the Infinity’s combat deck. Included also are brand new Spartan Ops missions, story-based experiences separate from Halo 4’s campaign that will be released in weekly segments via Xbox LIVE. Described as an "episodic adventure that blends immersive storytelling, high-quality cinematics, and action-packed gameplay to deliver an unprecedented serialized experience," these missions can be played solo or with up to three others and will come at no additional cost.
Aside from the added modes, weapons, vehicles, armor, and player progression system, gamers will have access to "gameplay-enhancing" customizations that can be used in both War Games and Spartan Ops matchmaking playlists.
One last thing: don’t bother waiting for the Legendary Edition, as Halo 4 will come in only the regular and Limited Edition when it launches on November 6. Bummer, I know, but there you go.
