Staying on foot during multiplayer in Battlefield 3 will net you XP for your selected kit. If you hop into a vehicle, however, BF3 multiplayer XP will accumulate in the form of VS (Vehicle Score). As you acquire VS, you will level up specific vehicle types, unlocking Vehicle Gadgets, Vehicle Upgrades, and Vehicle Weapons.
