Mass Effect 3 War Assets Guide (Missions, Storyline, Scannable Assets)
(Continuation)
Rather than comprehensively list every single War Asset available as a result of playing through the main game, this section will instead focus on the most ideal solution to each of the primary missions, and how to attain that solution. Note that, depending on your choices in previous playthroughs, some solutions may be impossible to achieve, and some assets may be impossible to acquire.
It should go without saying that this segment of the guide contains considerable spoilers.
Priority: Mars:
There are no noteworthy assets to be acquired on this mission.
Priority: Citadel 1:
There are no noteworthy assets to be acquired on this mission.
Priority: Palaven
War assets acquired may vary based on previous playthroughs, and Garrus may or may not be present depending on whether or not he survived the suicide mission. Aside from that, player choice doesn't really factor in to this mission.
Priority: Sur'Kesh:
As with Palaven, player choice doesn't really factor in to what assets are available to you. Mordin may or may not be present in this mission, depending on the results of previous games.
Priority: Tuchanka
Turian Blackwatch (75): Complete Tuchanka: Bomb within the time limit (before completing three other missions) to unlock this asset.
Curing the Genophage:
Available Assets: Urdnot Wrex (30) or Urdnot Wreav (25), Clan Urdnot (300), Krogan Clans (300-340).
Requirements: Mordin Solus Survived Mass Effect 2, Kept Maelon's Data in Mass Effect 2, Tuchanka: Bomb Completed,
Total Potential MS Boost: 670
If Wrex is alive and you kept Maelon's data in Mass Effect 2, this is without a doubt the best path to take. If you sabotage the cure, Wrex will find out, and withdraw all Urdnot support for the war effort. In addition, he will confront you on the Citadel, forcing you to kill him.
Mordin Solus will sacrifice himself to cure the genophage.
Sabotaging the Cure:
Available Assets: Salarian First Fleet (150), Urdnot Wreav (25), Krogan Clans (300), Clan Urdnot (300), Mordin Solus (25)
Requirements: Urdnot Wrex is dead, did not keep Maelon's data, Mordin Solus is alive
Total Potential MS Boost: 775
If Wreav is alive but Wrex is dead, the best choice is likely to sabotage the cure - he'll likely never find out about it, though it's been said on several occasions that his rather inept leadership costs you a few points in the long run. It's possible, as well, to convince Mordin that sabotaging the cure is the best choice, given Wreav's style of leadership.
Priority: The Citadel 2
The only war asset upon which player choice has a noteworthy impact in this mission is the Salarian forces. Assuming you manage to save the Salarian Counselor (Thane is alive), and he's the original Counselor from Mass Effect (in other words, you saved the Destiny Ascension), the Salarian Third Fleet (125) will commit itself to your cause. Otherwise, The Salarian STG Task Force (70) will become available as an asset.
Priority: Rannoch
Advanced AI Relays (45): After destroying the Geth Dreadnought, support Admiral Xen instead of Tali.
Target Jamming Technology (8): During the mission in which you're sent to rescue Admiral Koris, you can find this asset at a terminal diagonally adjacent from the final anti-aircraft gun control. Return it to the Turian C-Sec officer in Apollo's Café to unlock the asset.
Reaper Code Fragments (8): This asset is acquired through completion of the Rannoch: Geth Fighter Squadrons mission. It's right beside the first infected cluster of data you encounter whilst connection to the Geth Network. Return it to the Asari Officer on the main floor of the Citadel Embassies to add 8 MS to your Asari War Assets.
Ceasefire:
Available Assets: All Geth Assets (660-810), All Quarian Assets (450-640)
Potential Asset Gain: 1,110-1,450
Requirements: Rescue Admiral Koris, Complete Rannoch: Geth Fighter Squadron, Destroy the Geth Heretics in Mass Effect 2, Both Legion and Tali must be alive and loyal, Tali must be an admiral, must have a high enough reputation to convince the Quarian fleet to back down.
By far the best outcome of this mission, in order to achieve a ceasefire, you must meet at least five of the above requirements (though the requirements related to Tali and Legion are absolutely necessary, as near as I'm aware). If you do not meet the requirements for the ceasefire, you must choose between either the Geth or the Quarians - in which case the Geth seem like the natural choice (although choosing them will result in Tali'Zorah's suicide). Regardless of the choice you make, Legion will die - unlike with Mordin, there is no way to save him. He will either be killed by Tali, or sacrifice himself to give his fellow Geth true sentience.
Basically, this is a choice between genocide and a happy ending for the Quarians / Geth. Here's hoping you did everything necessary to achieve the latter.
Priority: Thessia:
No mission-critical assets are available for this mission.
Priority: Horizon:
Miranda Lawson: If Miranda survived the suicide mission, and you warned her about Kai Leng in advance, she'll survive the mission in Priority: Horizon and join your team as a War Asset, worth 25 points. However, if she wasn't loyal to you, or you didn't warn her about Kai Leng, she will not survive.
Neither of the two remaining missions actually give you the opportunity to obtain any war assets, as they're essentially the "final run" of Mass Effect 3.
