When the first LEGO Harry Potter released June 2010, everyone knew it was only a matter of time before the second part of the worldwide phenomenon would be playable as well.  One and a half years and two films later, fans of the LEGO and Harry Potter franchises will get what they have been waiting for.  On November 11th in North America and on November 18th for Europe, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 will be released – the same day as the second Deathly Hallows film is released on DVD and Blu-ray.

Years 5-7 will be very similar to its predecessor, as well as every other LEGO game – collect items, explore the areas available, and follow the storyline to the end.  Magic will also be part of the game (it is the world of Harry Potter after all), but something new is included this time around: potions.  Potions should be interesting since they can have positive or negative effects depending on if they are mixed correctly.  In fact, one potion will cause the player to turn into a frog if it is not done right. 

There will be twenty-four story levels in LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, six per movie.  Sixteen magic lessons will be learned before Harry, Ron, and Hermione take off for their attempt to find the Horcruxes, which can actually be destroyed to rid the world of Voldemort.  One of the most shocking things might be that players will be able to destroy Hogwarts, too.  Whether this will be as Harry, Voldemort, or anyone at all has not been stated.  Three other additional features, which some players will be happy to see, revolve around the Weasleys, The Quibbler, and Hermione’s beaded bag; if a gamer plays as a Weasley, joke boxes can be unlocked, other areas will have The Quibbler boxes, which can unlock the spectrespecs, allowing gamers to find hidden objects, and Hermione’s bag can be set on specific platforms to retrieve items from it.  The ever-present gold bricks will return as well as the level creation tools which were present in the first LEGO Harry Potter.

The cast of characters in LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is sure to delight many, although there are less enemies this time.  That does not mean they are easier to defeat, just that at this point the Harry Potter world does not have many new ones to throw at gamers.

The newest title in Traveller’s Tales and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment’s library will be based on the final four movies and, in part, the last three books.  It will be released on every platform available for a game to come out on, including iOS and the upcoming PS Vita.  Just as the final film in July was a bittersweet ending to the movie franchise, so will LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 be for gaming fans.
