Ruin, currently listed as a working title, will be a new type of game for the PlayStation community. The biggest reason for this is that the game, which was revealed at 2011's E3, will be playable on both systems. Actually, players will be able to play the game across both systems, at least those who own both a PS3 console and a PS Vita. What that means for gamers is you will be able to start your game on your console in the morning, and during lunch, continue playing where you stopped previously; sounds awesome for gamers who hate to wait for playtime!
Ruin takes place in a medieval fantasy setting, and it has been called both an action role-playing game and a dungeon crawler. In a way, it has both elements. There will be campaigns for gamers to gather loot and experience along with competitive elements. Gamers will have a "Lair" for a home base, and here you will be able to decorate to your tastes.

Gamers will also be able to invade other players lairs, giving the game a social aspect with the goal to gain experience and fame. You will not get loot from invading. Eventually, players will understand just how much or how little another player has invaded areas by the decorations in the lair. To help prevent someone from invading, a gamer will inhabit their lair with monsters to protect it from attacks and receive a notification when an opponent is about to attempt said attack. If you are online, you will be able to check and make sure your defenses are up to your standards, but if you aren't connected at that time, Ruin will go with what you had previously established. Monsters can even have their abilities upgraded as well, for better defense.
Fame is important in Ruin, so you will want to infringe on your match-made opponents as much as possible. Higher fame can grant you side missions from NPCs, and without it, you will have no chance of obtaining them. Ruin developers also want to create a sense of community and friendly rivalry, so you will be playing against / with the same players from your low levels to the highest ones.
Ruin currently has three classes with three races. It's unknown if there will be more of either. What we know will be available are Infernal warriors, humans and elves for the wizards or assassins. The game will have different fighting skills for each class, giving the game a different feel for each one. For example, the assassin class could be a playable shooter with dungeon crawler elements.

The game will use the standard four-button configuration on both the Vita and console version, although it's been rumored the touch screens on the Vita will have extra controls once released. As far as we can see, Ruin won't have great graphics for the PS3 system, but it will show off graphical excellence on the PS Vita. It looks like it'll sport a very colorful if a bit cartoonish design.
Ruin promises to take RPG games to a different level by transferring your game from a portable mode to a permanent mode. Whether gamers will accept this remains to be seen, but it does look to be fun.
