Since its release in September of last year, Hard Reset has garnered a large group of die-hard fans who found its old-school FPS roots, intense visual styles, and cyber-punk attitude a perfect mix for a 1990s-styled FPS. Perhaps the biggest problem gamers had at the time was that the game was just simply too short. Well, never fear, because publisher Kalypso is bringing us Hard Reset: Extended Edition.

Some of you may have missed playing Hard Reset upon its original release. The run-and-gun FPS brings us back to earlier FPS times when you didn't have to worry about duck-and-cover, or saving up huge inventories of items. This was a time when you couldn't get better simply by leveling up. Hard Reset throws you into a world where only your own skills of shooting and strafing can save you, as well as the hope that you can find some health packs along the way.
Just like those old FPSs, in Hard Reset: Extended Edition you'll be fighting wave after wave of enemies who not only get more powerful, but increase in quantity as the game progresses. There are only a few weapons, but each can be upgraded, yet it is the player's skill which will be most relevant, as Hard Reset's difficulty only decreases when your personal gaming skills increase. Hard Reset's cutscenes can either be watched to enjoy a William Gibson / Bruce Sterling-like cyberpunk story, or completely skipped for those who wish to get right into the action.

Hard Reset: Extended Edition will give gamers the full original game, and it will expand the content by around 3 hours, turning out the total gameplay time into 7-8 hours overall. Some of the new content includes new enemies and more maps, some of which take place in lush, open air arenas, creating a nice variance in level design. Two new levels for the survival mode will also be included, and an improved graphics engine update adds to the already great visuals. Be prepared for some new boss fights too. Hard Reset: Extended Edition is more than just a simple update or DLC; it is truly a fine "directors cut", pleasing those who played the original Hard Reset and were dying for more. Even better, it will give an excuse for newcomers who were weary of purchasing the game at its original release (based on its length) to now feel confident that they are purchasing a more complete game that won't cut them short.
Hard Reset: Extended Edition will be available retail in March, while a DLC version for those who originally purchased the game on Steam will eventually be available too.
