Want to Be the Most Famous Spy?
All right, James Bond fans... do you know what this year is? Well, if you don't, it's the fiftieth anniversary of the Bond film franchise! Hard to believe it's been that long we have been watching this man with his cool gadgets outwit the bad guys and get the girl. In honor of this momentous occasion, Eurocom has created a game that celebrates the man every boy wants to be.
The game, 007 Legends, will have six Bond films to play through, and an over-arching narrative to tie them all together. The upcoming Skyfall will be the final portion of the game, with Moonraker and On Her Majesty's Secret Service starting the game. Just recently, Die Another Day and License to Kill were announced as the third and fourth part of this game. This just leaves the fifth episode as yet unnamed. Since they are unveiling one per month, September should bring that final piece of the puzzle.
Bond will trail Ernst Blofeld attempting to thwart his plans for global terrorism, and he will also try to save his current girl, Tracy, who is incidentally the daughter of criminal chief Marc-Ange Draco (talk about dealing with the bad guys on several levels). 007 Legends players will use all kinds of spy gadgets and weapons, including Bond's signature Walther PPK, and several sleek vehicles, which are synonymous with James Bond. Exotic locations, such as the Swiss Alps, make great places to fight the henchmen, pull of feats most men couldn't, and flirt with the females.
007 Legends will also see the return of Mi6 Ops Missions, which gives the player a chance to complete extra missions. As if this all weren't enough, for the first time ever players will have the chance to be one of the bad guys or Bond's sidekicks. That should give a new perspective to the game, since, if chosen, it will be seen through the eyes of that person instead of Bond.
Multiplayer will allow up to four players to participate at the same location (for the console versions) with a split-screen mode. 007 Legends's online competition includes new maps, weapons, and characters, which fans will know from the 50-year legacy. This Bond game will have something for everyone, it seems.
The cast for 007 Legends will even make fans gaga, as several are well-known in the world of James Bond. They are as follows:
- Daniel Craig as James Bond
- Halle Berry as Jinx
- Judi Dench as M
- Naomie Harris as Eve
- Toby Stephens as Gustav Graves
- Richard Kiel as Jaws
- Robert Davi as Franz Sanchez
- Talisa Soto as Lupe Lamora
- Diana Rigg as Tracy Draco
- Lois Chiles as Dr. Holly Goodhead
- Michael Lonsdale as Hugo Drax
- Gabriele Ferzetti as Marc Ange Draco
To make it even more appealing, Bruce Feirstein wrote the screenplay for the game, along with Rob Matthews. As you may know, Feirstein wrote three films and four games in the universe, and Matthews works for Eurocom, so 007 Legends is bound to be good and true to the James Bond world.
Luckily, the wait is almost over, as the game will release on October 16th, 2012 on PC, PS3, or Xbox 360.
I have been gaming since I was in high school, before it was acceptable for a girl to do it. I have been a writer for even longer. It's only natural the two would combine. I prefer RPGs, action/adventure, and strategy games, but I also play dancing, sports titles, and shooters.
