An Empire for the Taking...
There's going to be a lot to do in Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires. Koei has made some big promises about their upcoming tactical action game. Producer Akihiro Suzuki has claimed that the title's tactical and political systems have more depth than ever before, with an open-ended style of play and classic gameplay that'll instantly hook anyone who was a fan of Dynasty Warriors 3.

Gameplay-wise, the title is a mishmash of new and old. Equippable, randomly discovered items have made their return to the game, as have the dual-weapon system and Morale Bar.
Though it's still likely to retain the frantic, oft-repetitive hack 'n' slash of previous titles in the series, Empire Mode (the default campaign), can be played in any of a number of different ways. Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires players can choose to be a power-hungry warlord, conquering and uniting the provinces of Japan under one banner - theirs. They can choose to be a loyal officer, serving their ruler unquestioningly and bringing the forces of their nation a step closer to victory with each battle.

Of course, if neither of those sound like particularly attractive options, you can simply wander the battlefield as a mercenary and strive for fame and fortune, serving whoever happens to pay the most at any given time.
