Play Again with Lightsabers We Will
The upcoming LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is going to be somewhat different than its predecessors. Releasing (finally) on March 22nd, the game will be out simultaneously on all the major systems, including PC and both the DS and PSP. This alone attests to the popularity of not only LEGO, but Star Wars games as well.
LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will have a different look than previous installments, as Traveller’s Tales is basing the characters and play sets on The Clone Wars TV series on Cartoon Network .This will make the art designs more cartoonish and less LEGO-ish than other games. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will have characters from the TV show and cameos from the movie.
- Yo-da man! -
With 20 story missions and 40 bonus levels, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will rival the length of any other LEGO title before it, including the most recent release, LEGO Harry Potter. Gamers can also play as either a Jedi or Separatist faction in this release. Players will be able to not only play in co-op through split-screen, but they'll also jump between parallel storylines during one mission. This feature will be picture-in-picture with two sets of actions happening at once on the screen. The larger screen picture will be player-controlled, and the smaller one will be handled by A.I. Nothing in the A.I. screen will advance the story or complete any objectives that need to be accomplished. This “swap story” mode will allow players to play two separate areas at once, so they encounter two sets of objectives while playing under the guise of a single mission.
Missions will now also be more of an RTS gameplay style in LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, and players will be able to command a clone army as they battle the droids of the Empire. New as well are abilities such as issuing squad commands, slicing clean through with Lightsaber, force jumps and long distance Jedi attacks, force pushing droids, grapple points, and pressure-sensitive pads in which Jedi perform combo moves to destroy certain objects. Vehicle levels have changed somewhat as well, and gamers can land their ships before fighting on foot. Finally, in order to allow the gamer's character to explore all areas of the Star Wars galaxy, the hub has been changed to take place in a star destroyer named The Resolute.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars might take the LEGO franchise in a new direction with some of these elements. We'll have to wait and see when the game launches across every major gaming platform on March 22 in North America and March 25 in Europe.

I have been gaming since I was in high school, before it was acceptable for a girl to do it. I have been a writer for even longer. It's only natural the two would combine. I prefer RPGs, action/adventure, and strategy games, but I also play dancing, sports titles, and shooters.
