Life's full of coincidences, and funny enough, Team Phobic's next big hit for iOS devices is called Undead Island - just a couple of letters away from the title of one of the most talked-about games (and game videos) in the past few weeks, Dead Island. Then again, these guys had planned Undead Island months ago, and while you'll be dealing with some serious zombies here too, this upcoming action platformer will put your skills to the test in a whole different way.

- The game has its share of 'Braaaaains....' -
If you're like us and have spent more than a few hours playing Super Mario Bros., Metroid, or even Castlevania titles throughout your gaming life, Undead Island should be quite a treat for you. From what we've played so far, this new iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad title looks like it has what it takes to keep you engaged for more than a couple hours, which is something to appreciate in this day and age of handheld gaming, where spending a couple of bucks on a gimmick being passed off as a "game" has become the norm. We're talking about a real game here for those who are thirsty for adventure and are ready to take on the next challenge from the App Store.
In Undead Island, players take on the role of an agile, blonde ninja who must fight hordes of undead. Be it a run-of-the-mill shambler, a ravenous dead monkey, a fiery skull, or a decaying sumo wrestler, the title presents plenty of challenge to go along with the tricky platforming that makes up the entirety of the game.
Split up into a few different worlds, Undead Island has players advance through levels by overcoming gaps, sorting through obstacles and moving platforms, slashing zombies, or even throwing shurikens at them. Collecting coins that spring out of the enemies after a kill increases your score, and if you have what it takes, you should be able to collect special medals as well, which are scattered throughout the levels in hard-to-reach and sometimes secret platforms, passages, and caves.

- Burnin' Aliiiiiiiiiive!!! -
Undead Island supports Game Center achievements and leaderboards, plus you can share your mad platforming skills with the world via Facebook and Twitter, which is pretty much to be expected from any iOS app released nowadays. If you wait just about a week, you'll be able to get your hands on this good-looking and entertaining game and decide for yourself, but we think there's great potential here. After all, Team Phobic is known for their popular Bounce On and Bounce On 2 platformers, so this is not their first foray in the genre, and it'll surely not be the last!
Look for our review of the game here at GD in just a few days. In the meantime, you may want to check out the Undead Island trailer to see what to expect.
