Just Dancing with my cell phone
Being ride or die for Dance Central, I have never played the Just Dance series until now. Having finally gotten around to the series with the latest entry Just Dance 2016, I see the differences between this and the popular Kinect title.
Another feature new for this year is the expansion of the song list with the introduction of Just Dance Unlimited, a subscription service that adds tacks all year long. Available right from the song selection menu is the option to choose from this year’s songs, which includes hits such as Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" or an extended selection of songs included from past Just Dance titles. The song list this year is pretty good, but sometimes you just wanna bust out Gangnam Style and gallop in privacy even though it 2015.
As I said before, I never played a Just Dance title before, but I knew what it was about. The interface took a little getting used to, but I caught on quickly. What I liked is how a lot of the routines had interaction between players doing things such as hopping over each other. The song selection features a few odd selections such as this year adding classical music, which turned out to be a good addition.
Most of the popular modes will be returning, but Ubisoft is adding an addition 5 new modes, such as Dance Party and Dance Quest which extend single and multiplayer value.
Just Dance 2016 will be available on all consoles this year, but with the various motion controller all being in various degrees of usage, the Just Dance Now app can be used as a substitute for motion controllers. This now means that the amount of controllers someone has won't limit the fun and having a full on 4 or 6-player game is just as simple as downloading the app and syncing, although data charges may apply.
With this new control method making it impossible to say they don't have a way to play, Just Dance 2016 is coasting but taking a big chance on something that can truly allow its franchise to not rely on the shackles of the consoles and let people just dance.
