Nintendo 3DS Black-Screening

Over the weekend, reports from NeoGAF and other sites have revealed that some owners of the new Nintendo 3DS handheld have experienced errors causing a black screen while gaming with the device.

In response to an inquiry from the NowGamer website, a Nintendo UK representative said, “If anyone is experiencing any problems with their Nintendo 3DS console, we recommend that in the first instance they download and install the latest system update, now available online.” (System Settings - Other Settings - Page 4 - System Update)

Based on comments from various NeoGAF forum members, it seems the problem could be born from issues related to the system’s online connectivity. One NeoGAF member claims to have experienced the problem during a failed online match of the new Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition game saying, “I suspect this was due to the low wireless signal I got from my router (that is in another floor in my house) as it stopped occurring when I moved closer to it.”
