Wii Successor Without 3D?
The Nintendo 3DS handheld has hit the ground running, with the system already breaking sales records. Three-dimensional entertainment is taking the mainstream by storm, but Nintendo wants to be clear that glasses-free viewing is a top priority.
Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development Manager Hideki Konno told CNN that any type of 3D technology that relied on glasses wasn’t going to work for the company’s approach to video games.
Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime echoed that sentiment by saying, “Glasses-free is a big deal…We've not said publicly what the next thing for us will be in the home console space, but based on what we've learned on 3-D, likely, that won't be it.”
