Retro Studios Working on Important Nintendo Title for Wii 2
Retro Studios, famed first-party Nintendo developer responsible for the Metroid Prime trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns, is currently working on an important game franchise for Project Cafe (the unofficial codename for Wii 2).

In a conversation with Paul Gale Network (via GameInformer), "two different people" at the development studio confirm that they are working on "a project everyone wants us to do", and that Retro was one of the very first companies to get their hands on development tools for the new Nintendo console.
There's no telling what franchise Retro is working on, though another entry in the Metroid franchise is the natural choice. However, Retro was a bit burned out on Metroid after completing Corruption. Paul Gale has offered up his own speculation, figuring the game is either a "'built from the ground up’ first person shooter" or a Zelda game.
