Monster Hunter Coming to iPhone and iPod Touch
NEWS | Author: GD Staff

Capcom announced yesterday Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game is slated for release next month, though no specific date was mentioned.

Players will control their character(s) via tapping and sliding on the touch screen. Rather than move your character via a virtual D-pad, you’ll navigate simply by sliding your finger to the left or right of the screen, which may suggest a 2D gameplay plane – Capcom hasn’t offered too many specifics on the actual adventure portions of the game. Players can attack by tapping monsters, guard by tapping the screen with two fingers, and dodge by sliding two fingers to the left or right. Capcom says, “The result is an effortless control scheme that takes full advantage of the device’s touch screen.”

Though the press release was light on details, they do mention “epic encounters” and “titanic beasts.” Look for your mobile Monster Hunter fix when it his iOS sometime next month.

Capcom Press Release

CAPCOM’S “MONSTER HUNTER: DYNAMIC HUNTING” COMING TO IOS

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 18, 2011 – Capcom®, a leading developer and publisher of video games, today announced “Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting” for the iPhone and iPod touch. Like the console games, “Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting” transports the player to a fantasy environment where massive creatures roam the land. In epic encounters against titanic beasts you’ll battle claw against sword for glory and survival.

Players interact with the game using a new intuitive control system. Eschewing the typical D-pad, players swing their weapon in “Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting” by tapping the target with one finger. Blocks can be performed by tapping the screen with two fingers while evading is accomplished by sliding two fingers left or right. Basic movement can be accomplished by sliding a single finger, left or right. The result is an effortless control scheme that takes full advantage of the device’s touch screen.

“Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting” is expected to be available in June. For more information, visit the Capcom official press site at www.press.capcom.com.
