Level-5 RPG Ninokuni releasing stateside in 2012; video & screenshots
Akihiro Hino, president at Level-5 studios, announced in a press conference today near the Tokyo GameShow 2011 venue that Ninokuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joou, literally translated into English as "The Another World: Queen of the White Ashes", will be released in North America in early 2012. Hino stated that the team at Level-5 is currently working on an English version and that the PS3 version will be an extended version of the DS.
Here is the synopsis of the game according to an article on GameSpot, “In the game, players control Oliver, a 13-year old boy who is transported into the world called Ninokuni which is a parallel reality of his own world. He is on a quest to revive his recently-deceased mother and is accompanied first by a male fairy called Shizuku. The game is an RPG, in which combat is settled in turn-based format.”
Ninokuni is also the first collaboration between Level-5 gaming studio and Studio Ghibli, a renowned anime studio that has produced titles such as Ponyo, Spirited Away, and Kiki’s Delivery Service.
The joint project sounds like an interesting collaboration for fans of Studio Ghilbli and Level-5 games. Ninokuni releases November 17 in Japan, so be on the lookout for more trailers and screenshots as that date draws near.
