Uncharted 3 multiplayer live in U.S., gameplay footage and screenshots
A few days ago, Sony announced that they were teaming up with Subway to offer users full access to the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception multiplayer beta in the United States. Earlier today, the Playstation blog had a chat with one of the game’s designers, Robert Cogburn, to get a bit of insight into the multiplayer experience, how it works, the best weapons for new players, and what players should do when they first log on.
The video interview, embedded above, includes a full preview of the game’s multiplayer. As near as I can tell, it very closely resembles what I’d imagine a third-person rendition of the modern Call of Duty games would be, complete with load-outs, “kickbacks” (similar to killstreaks, get a certain number of medals to activate kickbacks and gain an advantage in combat) and “boosters” (perks). One nice touch is that gaining medals levels up your boosters, making them increasingly more effective. You can also taunt defeated opponents once you’ve killed them.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception releases on November 1, 2011. All medals gained in the multiplayer beta will transfer over to the game upon its release.
Enjoy the Introduction to the Multiplayer video, and have a look at the latest Uncharted 3 campaign screenshots which feature Drake in a desert environment. If we had to guess, these captures are the first major encounter after the now iconic plane crash Nathan Drake will suffer through.
