Double Fine's next Kinect title is Happy Action Theater, video inside

Tim Schafer’s Double Fine, the studio responsible for such games as Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, is coming out with a new, kid-friendly Kinect game.
Called Happy Action Theater, the title will feature eighteen different mini-games “designed to activate gross motor skills, inspire imagination and entertain players of all ages,” reports Eurogamer.
According to GameInformer, Happy Action Theater was unveiled at an event last week, and only recently made its way to the public eye.
After watching the… rather psychedelic release trailer (hey, this is Double Fine we’re talking about here), I have to admit, the game actually looks like it could be a lot of fun, in a cheerful, ridiculous kind of way. After all, just because a game’s kid-friendly, doesn’t mean it’s exclusively for kids, right?
Happy Action Theater is just one of many titles designed to push Kinect as a kid-friendly piece of hardware – a smart move on Microsoft’s part, but one where I’d argue they should tread lightly lest they alienate a large portion of their consumer base. At the moment, the tech’s pretty irrelevant to a great many of the more hardcore 360 owners.
Double Fine’s latest title is set for release this holiday through digital download via Xbox LIVE. Have a gander at the announcement video for yourself.
