COD: MW3 dedicated servers on PC are unranked, Admin controls unlocks

If you're reading this article, chances are you know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will feature dedicated servers. However, all the details surrounding what the dedicated servers system will entail were unclear. On Friday, Infinity Ward delivered, posting a comprehensive list.
In addition to supporting matchmaking, Modern Warfare 3 will include a system that allows players to find and filter which servers they do or do not want to play on via an in-game browser. Pretty standard stuff, but it’s exciting to hear that it’s going to be included in COD: MW3.
Players can set up their own dedicated server, which they’ve been given complete control over – no third party hosts required. Players who’d rather join a server can filter the available options by ping, map, gametype, game variants, voice options, password, and an as yet unspecified list of other features.
Naturally, given the potential for abuse of the leaderboards, dedicated servers will be completely unranked. Rather than unlocking weapons and equipment as they level and rank up, they’ll enter the server with certain weapons either available or unavailable to them, as dictated by the admin
“To clarify, Unranked Dedicated Servers on PC. Admin has full control of unlocks. Can unlock all or fully customize whats unlocked in #MW3” Tweeted Infinity Ward Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, shortly after the announcement.
