First iPad 3 details uncovered; iOS 5.1 beta hints at a next-gen Apple TV

Apple enthusiasts, listen up: iPad 3 is well on its way.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple’s currently working out the kinks in two prototype versions of the iPad 3. One of their supplier-based contacts has informed them that the two models, codenamed J1 and J2, are likely to feature a Retina display and a dual LED-bar system, though the company hasn’t decided which of the two models to use yet. It’s possible, notes 9to5mac, that the J1 and J2 might also simply be the 3G and WiFi version of the new iPad, as well.
The iPad 3 is likely to be thinner, with a higher screen resolution and much, much higher specifications – all of which is rather unsurprising, given the way technology appears to be marching.
The rumors of an iPad 3 are joined with news of the next-gen Apple TV. The release of iOS 5.1 included some very interesting additions to the code for the Apple OS, one of which includes the codename for the Apple TV – J33. It’s too early to say anything about what the Apple TV’s going to look like, or how it’s going to function, all we know at this point is that it’s coming.
