LEGO The Lord of the Rings coming summer 2012; video game versions not confirmed... yet
UPDATE: Of course the video game was eventually confirmed, and here's a link to the LEGO: The Lord of the Rings game page with screenshots and the trailer they launched at E3 2012.
This morning, LEGO Group announced that new LEGO sets based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings will be made available summer 2012.
As with any major intellectual property LEGO Group has signed on (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter) it is likely that we will see video game versions brought to life by Traveller's Tales (aka TT Games) and Warner Bros. Interactive.
Since LEGO The Lord of the Rings video games have not been officially confirmed, systems and release date window are unknown. However, using previous LEGO game launches as a guideline, along with the upcoming release of PS Vita and Wii U, we can speculate that the games will release to every major platform, from PC and consoles to handhelds and smartphones.
What's more, with both Peter Jackson's The Hobbit and the LEGO LOTR sets launching this summer, we can expect a similar timetable for a potential LEGO The Lord of the Rings video games release.
