The 15th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards are coming up, and AIAS has just released a list of this year's finalists. All the games you'd expect are on there, arranged into over 20 categories, including sound design, composition, character performance, outstanding innovation, and story. That last one's my personal favorite, featuring games like Bastion, L.A. Noire, Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Uncharted 3.
There's some pretty heavy contenders for AIAS's overall game of the year. But, like I said, there are no real surprises: Batman: Arkham City, Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception all made the list for top honors.
Run by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, the Interactive Achievement Awards "recognize the best video games, computer games, and mobile entertainment along with individual and team craft achievement. Award winners are determined by a vote of qualified AIAS members."
Each year, one lucky winner will find their way into the Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achievement, or Pioneer Award Records (sometimes all three).
