UPDATE:
Evidently, GameBlog.fr has been blacklisted by Activision for publishing this news and not removing it when asked to do so. If true, this is obviously a very risky (not to mention unethical) tactic that has us scratching our heads.
From GameDynamo's experience with Activision, this seems utterly inconceivable. Further, some of you will remember that a massive amount of details concerning Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 leaked weeks before it was intended to. However, rather than sweeping the mess under the carpet, Activision Publishing honcho Eric Hirschberg decided to roll with it, directing PRs and devs to confirm the information ahead of schedule.
This action by Mr. Hirschberg is now looked upon as a real coup for the publisher, and the protocol used to control the leak is used as an example for the rest of the gaming industry on how to deal with such an occurrence.
As such, getting blacklisted by Activision for posting Amazon listings seems, at the very least, curious. Still, we will continue to watch the evolution of this news. Stay tuned.

ORIGINAL STORY:
File this one under sound logic yet pure, perhaps manufactured, speculation. According to French video game website GameBlog.fr, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was inadvertently confirmed through a premature listing on Amazon.fr.
Of course, we know for a fact that Treyarch, developers of the wildly successful COD: Black Ops, is hard at work on the next entry in the first-person shooter series. However, it is unknown if the dev. is getting its first fully-numbered entry in the franchise since Call of Duty 3, or if it will try to expand upon Black Ops.
While we feel it's no big stretch to assume Treyarch is working on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (this rumor crops up regularly), the evidence used by GameBlog.fr (namely the image posted above) looks to be a Photoshop "interpretation" of a genuine Amazon listing; that Call of Duty logo was pulled straight from the first few COD titles, and the listing is conveniently cropped not to be too revealing.
Naturally, trying to search for the game through Amazon.fr yields no results. This doesn't explicitly mean the listing was never there, it just can't be independently verified currently.
Take what you will from the rumor. Do you think Treyarch is working on Call of Duty 5 or Call of Duty: Black Ops 2?
