Nintendo 3DS sells five million units faster than any gaming hardware device in Japan
Today, the announcement was made by Nintendo that the 3DS has reached the five million mark in sales in Japan.

The system came out in Japan on February 26, 2011, meaning that it has reached the five million mark in just 52 weeks after launch. That's a record for Japanese hardware sales. Previous holders of this record had been the DS that reached the mark in 56 weeks, and the Game Boy Advance at 58 weeks.
According to the data, which was provided by Media Create, the sales figure represents systems actually sold from retailers to customers, and not the systems shipped to retailers. Which makes the record all the more impressive, don't you think?
