Crytek confirms Crysis 3; first official screenshots and box art / packshots revealed
No more rumors. Crysis 3 is official, as announced by developer Crytek and publisher EA today. Touted as "the premier sandbox shooter experience of 2013", the game promises to push the state of the art further with "unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay."
Set 24 years after Crysis 2, gamers will assume the role of Prophet, who is on a mission of revenge when he uncovers the true motives of the Cell Corporation for building the giant Nanodomes supposedly designed to protect the population from the remaining Ceph forces. With a Nanosuit and bow in hand, it will be up to Prophet to hunt down those who stand in his way.
"Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love," said Crytek's Chief Executive Officer, Cevat Yerli. "Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we're able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game."
Additionally, Crytek announced that players can pre-order the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition. This edition gives players the means to become a fierce hunter in the game's multiplayer by allowing early access to the bow mentioned above, as well as the Hunter Nanosuit module with can boost the suit even more. Also, players who pre-order will get a head start online with a bonus XP boost up to level 5.
The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition is now available on Origin.com and participating retailers for $59.99.
