Microsoft preparing Kinect Play Fit app for Xbox 360
To be honest, I'm surprised they didn't do this sooner.
According to The Verge, Microsoft is currently preparing to update the software on the Xbox 360's dashboard to include an exercise tracking system. Titled "Kinect Play Fit," the app will allow people to keep track of how much exercise they've gotten across various Kinect titles.
Apparently Microsoft is also planning to concurrently release a piece of hardware (codenamed "Joule") that'll serve as a heart rate monitor, allowing players to wirelessly keep track of their heartrate and set goals for their workouts; it'll work in a similar fashion to the heart rate monitor EA ships with EA Sports Active 2.0.
Assuming this rumor is true, there's a good chance we'll be hearing about it from Microsoft at E3.
