Capcom announces the Ur-Dragon event mode challenge for Dragon's Dogma; trailer and screenshots inside

Today, Capcom announced a challenge for their upcoming title, Dragon's Dogma.

Deep beneath an area known as Gran Soren rests a location called The Everfall. Within awaits a terrifying creature: the Ur-Dragon. This monstrosity is ancient and nearly unstoppable, and, as such, it's going to require multiple parties to attack it across several days.

Each party and player who deals damage to it will receive a collection of rare items, and whoever deals the final blow to the creature will be granted a massive reward (though no word on what exactly that reward is at the moment).

Progress will, naturally, be tracked over Xbox LIVE and the PSN, with everyone who participates in taking down the Ur-Dragon having their name posted to a public leaderboard after the creature falls.

Those of you who don't have an Internet connection for your console, have no fear. You can still whittle away at the Ur-Dragon's health; however, the rewards you're granted will be different from the online rewards.

The Ur-Dragon event mode challenge begins on May 22, 2012 when the game releases. Prepare your blades!
