Ubisoft is developing Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth for Xbox 360 Kinect and Wii U

If any of you have been unfortunate enough as to be living under a rock for the last few weeks, let me get you up to speed. There's this little movie that came out a few days ago called The Avengers. It stars a bunch of people you may have seen in some other movies that have been popping up for the last few years. It totally killed it at the box office, with a record $207.4 million on its opening weekend.

And now that they have pretty much dominated film, Earth's Mightiest Heroes are ready to move on to another form of media. And since this a video game website, you can probably guess which form of media it is.

Ubisoft is developing Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth for Xbox 360 Kinect and Wii U

Ubisoft today announced the formation of a partnership with Marvel Entertainment to create a game based on the super-powered, money-making team, titled Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth. The game is currently in development at Ubisoft Quebec, and it will be released for Xbox 360 Kinect and the Wii U.

"The idea that we're making a motion-control version of The Avengers is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past," Tony Key, Ubisoft's sales and marketing VP, told The Associated Press. "This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They're always fighting and throwing things."

Now fanboys everywhere will most likely have the chance to swing their fists, shouting "Hulk, smash!" and actually have it affect gameplay. Yay for them.

Battle for Earth will feature Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, and more than 20 heroes (and also villains) from the Marvel universe as they fight to fend off an invasion from an alien race known as the Skrull. All of this will revolve around a story based more on the "Secret Invasion" storyline from the Avengers comics than the Avengers movie.

"For the last few years, Marvel has positioned itself to deliver the absolute best in entertainment, be it in film, animation, comics or games," said Andreea Enache-Thune, Marvel's senior VP of games and digital distribution. "Partnering with Ubisoft is a big part of the ongoing movement. We are confident that Ubisoft's talent matches Marvel's own commitment to making the Avengers: Battle for Earth the best in the motion-controlled gaming category."

Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth will be released this fall. For upcoming information, check out www.AvengersBattleForEarth.com. Also, we'll be sure to keep you up-to-date.
