Nintendo Selects expands in North America to include Pikmin 2 and Mario Power Tennis
Today, Nintendo today announced the expansion of its value-priced line-up of games: Nintendo Selects. Gamecube classics Mario Power Tennis and Pikmin 2 will be added to the line-up and cost $19.99 each.
Mario Power Tennis takes the cast of the Mario franchise and gives the cast tennis rackets, as up to four players use the newly-added motion controls to win tournaments, play mini-games, and complete challenges on gimmick courts.
Pikmin 2's release marks the first time the Wii version of the title will be available in North America. Players once again take on the role of Captain Olimar as he and the Pikmin salvage treasure to help repair his spaceship. In addition to all of the features of the Gamecube release, motion controls have been added to allow a higher degree of control not available in the initial release.
In addition to the two titles being added to Nintendo Selects, the prices of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, two of the Wii's top selling titles, will have their MSRP reduced to $29.95 in the U.S. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the latest title in Nintendo's character-based fighting game series and has sold 5.5 million copies in the US alone since its release in 2008, while 2010's Donkey Kong Country Returns marked the return of the titular character as he teams up with his family to recover his stolen banana hoard.
