XCOM: Enemy Unknown invades PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 this October; trailer inside
Earlier today, 2K Games announced that their long-awaited action-RTS XCOM: Enemy Unknown, will be hitting store shelves this coming October. It'll be arriving on all platforms on October 9 in North America, and on October 12, internationally. There's something else to their announcement, of course: a pre-order bonus.
Pre-ordering the game from any of the participating retailers will net you an Elite Soldier Pack, which, according to the press release, offers "top-of-the-line soldier customization features that will only be available for a limited time." These customization options include a classic X-Com soldier that fans of the original will instantly recognize, new armor soldier kits (including the Hyperion and Reaper armor), and complete color customization. Yeah, they're mostly aesthetic options, but hey, it's still a pretty decent bonus, right?
In addition to the pre-order goodies, players can purchase a special edition of the PC version at launch, which includes an art book, a poster featuring the XCOM headquarters, an insignia patch, and a bunch of "digital assets" which include a desktop wallpaper image and a soundtrack.
"XCOM: Enemy Unknown is the answer to the 15-year craving that X-COM fans have been experiencing," said Firaxis president Steve Martin, "We wanted to find a special way to honor these die-hard fans, and the special edition and Elite Soldier Pack are just the way to do it."
