Bethesda Softworks and id Software announce DOOM 3 BFG Edition

In one of the more surprising pre-E3 announcements, Bethesda today confirmed the upcoming release of DOOM 3 BFG Edition, coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this fall.
Consisting of DOOM 3 and its expansion pack, Resurrection of Evil, the re-mastered title enhances the graphics of the original, and adds a new checkpoint system and fine-tuned controls for consoles. In addition, the title features a set of new single-player levels called "The Lost Mission", and a new armor-mounted flashlight that allows players to illuminate the level while still being able to use their weapons.
With support for 3D, and even including DOOM and DOOM 2, DOOM 3 BFG Edition will be the definitive collection of the pioneering FPS series when it releases later this year.
