Blizzard updates terms of service for Diablo III ahead of Real Money Auction House launch
There are some changes coming to Diablo III, according to a blue post over on Blizzard's forums. To prepare for the upcoming launch of the real-money auction house, Blizzard plans to update their terms of use to help promote better account security. Account security is, after all, a pretty serious concern; several players I know have already been hacked, and people have actually questioned whether or not Blizzard's authenticator service can pull its weight.

"With the introduction of the real-money auction house, account security will become more important than ever," wrote Meozeldian. "To help ensure that players have a positive experience…we've made some adjustments to how players can use and access their Battle.net balance. Starting today, in order to use this balance, players will be required to have a Battle.net authenticator or Mobile Authenticator attached to their Battle.net account."
"For clarity," he continued, "this means you'll need to have an Authenticator to add to your balance via Battle.net Account Management or send the proceeds of your real-money auction house sales to your Battle.net Balance. "
Those who've already added a balance to their account will still be able to make purchases without attaching an Authenticator–at least for the time being. In the future, they're going to require one, as well.
