NEWS | ? Comments |

Author: JC Marx

On Thursday, June 14, select members of the press were given invites to "a major Microsoft announcement" in Los Angeles. The press even is set for today, Monday, June 18 at 3:30 pm Pacific. Interestingly, even the exact location of the closed doors event won't be revealed until later this morning.

Microsoft and Barnes & Noble are rumored to be working on an Xbox LIVE capable Nook

So what's so secret in the Microsoft camp? According to invitee TechCrunch, its a first-look at the joint efforts of Microsoft and Barnes & Noble. If their sources are correct, a new entertainment-focused Nook tablet is in the cards that will be the first non-360 device to stream Xbox LIVE content.

Back in April, Microsoft invested some $300 million into Barnes & Noble for a 17.6% stake in the company, forming a strategic partnership called "Newco" to develop consumer products and services.

Stay tuned!
