Funcom and LEGO Group partner up for new MMO, called LEGO Minifigures
So… there's a Lego MMO on the way, and it's called LEGO Minifigures.
Funcom, developer of games such as Dark Age of Camelot and Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, and their upcoming MMO The Secret World, just signed a deal with the LEGO group to develop an MMO based on the LEGO franchise.
While I've certainly fond memories of playing with LEGO as a child (honestly, I'd still do it if I had any in my apartment), I'm curious as to how a LEGO MMO would actually work. Evidently, it'll be part of the "already prominent" online presence held by the LEGO Minifigures line.
"The market for family-friendly online experiences intended for children and youngsters is brimming with potential," Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas said of the agreement. "Being able to work in a world-renowned brand such as LEGO to develop an MMO for this audience is incredibly exciting to us as game developers and for Funcom as a company. This is source material we all know and love and we simply cannot wait to get started working with the LEGO group on realizing this exciting project."
