According to a press release sent out earlier today, SEGA's closing down offices in four European regions as well as Australia. This has been a long time coming, and it doesn't really come as a surprise to anyone who's been following the company. After all, for the past few years, SEGA's suffered from some rather crippling losses, and they've been restructuring themselves to be slightly smaller and more manageable ever since. 

Their offices in France, Germany, Spain, Benelux, and Australia are all shutting down, and Koch Media will handle the distribution of titles in those regions from here on out. SEGA's London offices aren't shutting down quite yet, but they could well be on the chopping block in the near future, as the company's announced that they'll remain open "in an oversight capacity." 

SEGA's European COO Jurgen Post put an impressive spin on the whole affair, stating that "SEGA is entering a new and exciting phase that will position the company as a content-led organization maximizing sales with strong and balanced IP such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Total War, Football Manager and the Aliens franchise. We are confident that this will lead to a successful future."

Hopefully, he's right. If they keep shuttering offices and laying off employees as they've been doing, there might not be any future for them, successful or otherwise.
