SEGA announces the HD return of NiGHTS into Dreams...
Two days ago, SEGA posted an image on its Facebook and Twitter pages, an image depicting a metal hill in a desert setting. While most we confused, there were those who knew what SEGA was getting at.
And today, the company confirmed what the image was implying: that an HD remake of the SEGA Saturn classic, NiGHTS into Dreams…, is in the works and will be released for Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Windows PC Digital Download this fall.
Originally released on this day (July 5) back in 1996, NiGHTS into Dreams… turned heads and became a fan-favorite due to its then-innovative 3D gameplay and multi-layered level design. And while that remains intact, the new version will also include improved graphics, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and support for leaderboards, trophies, and achievements. In addition to those, the game will come with the option to play the game with its original Saturn graphics, allowing gamers to kick it old school.
"The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams… stands out as one of the most recognizable titles that found a home on the system," said Chris Olson, SEGA's Vice President of Digital Business. "We've gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall."
SEGA's also released a new trailer, just in case people we're having trouble believing them.
