Final Fantasy VII re-release for PC confirmed; announcement trailer and screenshots inside

NEWS | ? Comments |

Author: Peter Grimm

Last month, we reported on the discovery of a "FinalFantasyVIIPC.com" domain registered by Square Enix, which led to the belief that a PC version of Final Fantasy VII was in the works. At the time, nothing was confirmed, so the Gamersphere had to take the report with a grain of salt.

Well, now we can take that grain of salt elsewhere, because, as indicated by the appearance of an official website (whose web address is the same as the one above), a PC version of FF VII will soon be available exclusively from Square's online store (guess what last month's report said about the game being available on Steam was way off).

And while it looks like it won't be that remake that fans have been clamoring for (as the trailer below heavily suggests), this version will still come with new features, such as 36 new achievements that can be compared with your friends online, and cloud saves that will enable you to play your game anywhere with an Internet connection. Another new feature, the "Character Booster", can push your HP, MP, and Gil levels to the max when you can use some help in tight spots.

The site also reveals the minimum specs required to run the game. Here's what you need: Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit), a 2GHz Processor or faster, 1GB RAM and a DirectX 9-compatible graphic card.

The price for FF VII has not been revealed yet, though the report from last month stated that it would retail at around £7.99 (or around $12). We'll see if that ends up being the case.
