NBA 2K13 will feature both the 2012 U.S. Men's National Team and the 1992 'Dream Team'
2K Sports announced that it has partnered with USA Basketball in order to bring both the 2012 U.S. Men's National Team and the 1992 "Dream Team" to NBA 2K13.
"As executive producer, letting fans go head to head with these legendary USA teams was extremely important to JAY Z," said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. "We are excited to partner with USA Basketball, and share in JAY Z's enthusiasm in making this a reality in NBA 2K13."
For those of you who might be too young to remember, the "Dream Team" was quite possibly the most dominant sports team ever assembled. The 1992 U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball Team had 11 Hall of Famers, and included such players as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, John Stockton, David Robinson, and Charles Barkley.
The "Dream Team" cruised through the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, with Croatia putting up the biggest fight, losing in the gold medal match to the USA by a tournament-low difference of just 32 points. Naturally, this has sparked an ongoing debate as to whether that team or the current national selection is the better ensemble.
"The fantasy matchup between the legendary 1992 'Dream Team' and the 2012 USA Men's national team has become one of the greatest sports debates of our time," stated JAY Z, the Executive Producer of NBA 2K13. "In NBA 2K13, we're giving fans the opportunity to play as two of the best teams ever assembled in sporting history, literally putting the debate right into their hands."
I guess we will find out which is the better team come early October when NBA 2K13 releases for most platforms.
