The World Ends With You is set for iOS release this year
Remember how we reported that Square Enix had begun a countdown towards something related to its Nintendo DS hit The World Ends With You? That was 4 days ago, and there are roughly 2 days and 14 hours left (as of this writing) before an announcement will be made.
So it kind of makes it embarrassing that Square goofed and let the following out.
Recently, Andriasang came upon a new listing within Square’s e-shop, a listing for a new TWEWY soundtrack. Seems innocent enough, right? Until you notice that the listing also reveals that a new version of the game is set to be released on iOS devices sometime this year. And, just to remind you, this is before that counter has hit zero.
Whoopsie.
The text relating to the iOS version, which has since been removed from the soundtrack listing, mentioned that the game will come with new music.
As for the soundtrack which all this hullabaloo is circling around, it is titled Subarashiki Kono Sekai Crossover (“Subarashiki Kono Sekai” is TWEWY’s Japanese name, in case you were wondering), and will include the new tracks from the iOS version, along with the TWEWY tracks from Kingdom Hearts 3D and new pieces exclusive to the soundtrack. It is set for release on October 1 and is priced at 1,890 yen.
Going back to the matter of the upcoming announcement, it’s worth noting that just because Square Enix revealed something TWEWY-related before the countdown has wrapped up doesn’t mean the surprise is ruined. For all we know, the iOS version is just part of the announcement that’s coming, an announcement for a sequel or prequel to The World Ends With You, maybe.
We’ll know for certain in a few days’ time, so keep an eye on the countdown site, and stay tuned to GameDynamo as this story develops.
