Double Fine's The Cave headed to the Wii U eShop

Double Fine diehards now have a reason to invest in a Wii U. At PAX Prime 2012, Double Fine Productions representative Greg Rice revealed that the upcoming, Ron Gilbert-helmed puzzle-platformer The Cave will be released on the Wii U's eShop.

Also releasing for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, the game will send players through the bowels of a magical talking cave (you read that right, a magical talking cave),  playing as three of seven eclectic characters, ranging from a knight to a mad scientist, as they navigate puzzles and learn the cave's secrets.

Unfortunately, Double Fine did not show the game running on Nintendo's new console, so it remains to be seen what kind of changes will be coming to the Wii U version, if there are any in the first place.

The Cave will be released sometime early next year. It is currently unknown if Double Fine plans to release the Wii U version alongside the others.
