Child-focused GameStop Kids coming to 80 locations for the holidays
In time for the holiday shopping season, GameStop has begun a new initiative aimed at children. Today, the company has opened the first 'GameStop Kids' store, located in the Grapevine Mills Mall near GameStop's headquarters in Texas.
The store mentioned above is the first of eighty stores that the company will open in select malls around the U.S. over the coming weeks. The new stores will provide "a unique and innovative shopping experience for the kid in all of us", offering E-rated games and a number of accessories and licensed products like Angry Birds plush toys, Skylanders backpacks, and Minecraft foam axes.

"We are always striving to make the shopping experience better for holiday gift givers," said Bob Puzon, GameStop's vice president of merchandising. "GameStop Kids takes that one step further by having the hottest brands and products that people of all ages can love – from Star Wars and LEGO to modern favorites like Skylanders Giants."
Speaking to the Dallas Business Journal, GameStop CEO Paul Raines further detailed their plans for the GameStop Kids stores, saying, "All of the stores will be in malls that have a better-than-average GameStop in them, so we know that the stores are high-traffic malls."
The concept, he added, was something that has been in planning for the last seven to eight months, as the company sought to identify products in need of exposure. "We've been testing it around the world. In Europe, we've been running an Angry Birds section in our stores in Germany for almost a year. I just got back from Australia and they have a ton of Minecraft product in our stores."
