Top 10 Video Game Politicians
2. Mike Haggar, Final Fight (Arcade)
Jesse Ventura may have been the first real-world wrestler to successfully transition to politics, but Mike Haggar was the first wrestler PERIOD to prove an effective leader in local government. As the mayor of Metro City, Haggar cleaned up his district with his bare hands. The infamous Mad Gear gang were apparently able to defeat the entire Metro City Police Department, but the mayor, a ninja, and a less-evil hoodlum managed to smash street crime as though it were just another wrestler caught in Haggar’s spinning piledriver. Respect for Haggar was so great that none of his constituents demand he wear a shirt; his pecs were the pride of the community.
1. The President, Bad Dudes (NES)
Though he only appeared briefly, the President of this hilariously stupid 8-bit game demonstrated all the qualities necessary to lead the country. Courage, to stay cool under the fire of being kidnapped by ninjas. Intelligence, to seek only dudes bad enough to rescue him and by extension the country. And compassion, to reward his soldiers’ bravery with a burger and a laugh. We salute you, Mr. President. Truly you are the baddest of dudes.
