It's official. The Uncharted series is getting a card game.

Sony announced today that the next entry in the popular franchise is called Uncharted: Fight For Fortune. And like I said before, it's a card game. A collaboration between Sony's Bend Studio and developer One Loop Games, the game's existence was discovered earlier this month when it was spotted on various rating board websites.

Described as an “action-adventure turn-based card game”, the gameplay in Fight For Fortune involves forming a team of “Faction” cards that feature characters from the Uncharted universe and then pitting them against enemy teams. Each Faction card can be equipped with various “Resource” and “Fortune” cards that boosts their stats and grants them new abilities, giving them a leg up in battle as a result.

With a main campaign clocking in at over eight hours long (so Sony says), the game will also include online asynchronous multiplayer, trophies, unlockables, and eventual DLC content. In addition, Sony Bend will release a new patch for Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which will allow players to use the artifacts collected in that game in Fight For Fortune.

It goes without saying that an Uncharted card game is an odd move. But will the move turn out to be a wise one, or one that even makes for a fun game? The answer to that question ought to be provided when Uncharted: Fight For Fortune launches exclusively for the PS Vita on December 4 for the fine price of $4.99.

If the above info failed to describe the game well for you, then the trailer below should remedy that.
