Activision inexplicably pulls 007 Legends and other James Bond games from Steam
I hope you guys were not too fond of some of the recent James Bond games, because they have begun to disappear.
Yesterday, it was discovered that the recently released 007 Legends had vanished from Steam. For reasons unknown, Activision has pulled the game from the service and its own online store, along with the downloadable versions of fellow Bond titles Blood Stone and Quantum of Solace.
What could be the reason for this? The most likely explanation for the sudden disappearance could be that Activision's rights to the 007 license are expiring. However, that raises even more questions, since the publisher's deal with MGM and EON (producer of the Bond movies) isn't supposed to expire until 2014.
It also makes one wonder why Activision would bother releasing 007 Legends if it was just going to remove it less than three months later. Though, if the reviews I've read for it are any indication, it's a small loss ultimately.
This is quite the strange matter, isn't it? Almost makes you wish James Bond was here to investigate it. Too bad he's the one missing.
