Author: JC Marx, creators of the wildly successful World of Tanks free-to-play MMO, has announced the acquisition of F.E.A.R. 3 developer Day 1 Studios.

The Chicago-based developer was picked up by Wargaming for $20 million in a bid to expand "into compelling console-focused gaming experiences," underlining "the company’s goal of multiplatform game development." acquires Day 1 Studios; sets its sights on console development

Day 1 previously started work on Reign of Thunder for PC. However, according to the presser, "the newly formed studio will focus exclusively on the development of an unannounced console title." There was no indication in this morning's announcement exactly what will happen with the mech fighter.

No official word was given as to what Day 1 will be working on, but you may remember that in 2012, Wargaming acquired Australia-based Big World Party Ltd., "which provided the company with streamlined development and server middleware tools."  With this in mind, along with Wargaming's established multiplayer prowess, it is likely that a console MMO or multiplayer-focused title will be in the offing.
