j2 Global's Ziff Davis Inc. acquires IGN Entertainment
Ziff Davis and its parent company, j2 Global, have been flirting with the idea of an IGN purchase for some time now. Today, via a BusinessWire press release, they revealed they have finally taken the plunge. This gives Ziff Davis Inc. a rather formidable media presence; the organization already operates PC Mag, Geek.com, and Toolbox.com.
The purchase of IGN and all its related networks will add IGN, UGO, 1UP, and AskMen to the list, making Ziff Davis one of the largest digital publishers in its field.
j2 Global CEO Hemi Zucker referred to it as a "transformative deal for our digital media business," stating that "by combining two of the most storied organizations in tech, gaming, and entertainment, we have created a very powerful company capable of producing and deliverying content in all forms to an audience that marketers highly value."
A gamer at heart, Nick started writing when he was a child. He holds a BA in English, works as a freelancer, and loves every minute of it. One day, he hopes to net himself a career in game design - but that's something for the future.
