The Last Guardian still in development; Ueda says "keep an eye out" for official announcement
Every now and then, we have been given confirmation that the PS3 exclusive The Last Guardian is not as dead as the relative silence and lack of any discernible progress tend to suggest. Today’s come courtesy of project lead Fumito Ueda, who confirmed that the game is still in the works and that he is still in charge of development (despite it being from a freelance position).
“While it's been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team,” Ueda said on his website. “I should also mention that details regarding The Last Guardian’s release is solely decided by Sony Computer Entertainment, not myself. Please keep an eye out for their official announcement.”
You can read all of Ueda’s message via the link below, but take a moment to consider what he said above first. Consider what he said about it being up to Sony to announce details. Isn’t it interesting that he would say that just a week before the big Sony event on February 20, the one where the PlayStation 4 is widely believed to be officially unveiled?
Could it be that Ueda is implying that The Last Guardian may be coming to the PlayStation 4? It’s impossible to say with absolute confidence, but given that the PlayStation 3 is now on the way out and all eyes are on Sony’s plans for the future, it would make sense for the project over to move to the new system.
For now, we can only speculate on the state of The Last Guardian until the event comes around next Wednesday, and I suggest that you do so in the comment box below.
