Blockbuster to shut down 164 more locations
It's a bad time to be in the movie and game rental business. Services like Gamefly, Netflix, and Steam are well on their way to making physical storefronts (particularly for rentals) completely obsolete.
It should thus come as no surprise that Blockbuster yesterday announced the closing of 164 locations, bringing the total closure count to a staggering 324... and that's just in the UK.

"We have continued to review the performance of individual stores since our appointment a month ago," said Deloitte representative Lee Manning, "and have concluded that further closures are necessary in order to restructure the company for sale. On the plus side, consumers who visit any of the closing stores will be able to browse through a wide array of shutdown promotions!"
This isn't the first retail storefront that's been closing down outlets (GameStop's not been doing so hot, either), and it's not likely to be the last.
