Legendary indie developer Edmund McMillen announces The Basement Collection

NEWS | ? Comments |

Author: Nicholas Greene

Edmund McMillen is a well-known face in the independent gaming scene. He got his start on Newgrounds, where he quickly gained a reputation as one of the site's most impressive developers. That pond was a touch too small for the big fish, who soon went on to make himself into a legend. Among other titles, he's responsible for both Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac

In short, he's kind of a big deal.

Legendary indie developer Edmund McMillen announces The Basement Collection

Now, McMillen has compiled all of his early work into a full catalogue; every title revamped and updated with new levels and unlockables, including two secret games, a number of bonus games, artwork, videos, interviews, and development sketches. The Basement Collection, as it iscalled, also contains a copy of Indie Game: The Movie, for those of you who've yet to view it.

The full collection features:

  • Aether
  • Time Fcuk
  • Spewer
  • Meat Boy
  • Grey Matter
  • Coil
  • Triachnid

"I'm honored to have the basement collection as my fourth retail release with Head Up and Merge Games," said McMillen. "It's a labor of love that will be packed with physical extras that should make this edition something to hold on to; it's awesome to have so many of my games in one place."

The Basement Collection hits store shelves today.

A gamer at heart, Nick started writing when he was a child. He holds a BA in English, works as a freelancer, and loves every minute of it. One day, he hopes to net himself a career in game design - but that's something for the future.
