Amored Core: Verdict Day soldiers on this summer

Developer and publisher Namco Bandai today announced plans to bring the latest entry in the Armored Core franchise, Verdict Day, to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 some time this summer.

In the distant future, the world has been thrown into chaos. Natural resources are terribly scarce, and factions all over the world clash with each other through the use of devastating Armored Core mechs... pretty much par for the series' course.

Armored Core: Verdict Day will feature persistent multiplayer, allowing gamers to enlist in a squad of up to twenty members. These squads can, in turn, join in any of the in-game factions to do battle with other players over both resources and territory. AI will take over for anyone who wants to play solo.

Verdict Day also marks the return of Operator Mode, which alows players to command an entire squadron of mechs from a top-down, tactical perspective. Operators may set rally points, mark targets, and receive real-time, in-cockpit views from the squad members they're controlling. Even better, save games will carry over from the previous entry in the series, allowing players to customize their old favorites with a whole host of new weaponry and equipment.

"The Armored Core series has continually found itself a deep and dedicated fanbase," said Namco Bandai VP of Marketing Carlson Choi. "Verdict Day expands the level of immersion with more advanced customization fine-tuning and streamlined multiplayer modes."
